He called Colt at 1-800-962-COLT and they informed him that the DOM was 1991. Thanks Ken, for letting. Apr 03, 2019 The Anaconda was also offered in 45 Colt from 1993 on. Interestingly enough, Colt waited until 1990 to finally offer a 44 Magnum revolver, while other American manufacturers, such as Smith & Wesson, Ruger, and Dan Wesson had a head start by a few decades. Well, Colt serial numbers tend to go across the board in a rather unpredictable pattern so it’s near impossible to read without reference books. All it takes to get the numbers to changes could be minor changes in the design, the beginnings of new time periods and many others. Colt Anaconda Serial Numbers By Year

Our Assessment: Colt introduced the Anaconda built on a new, heavy “AA” frame to compete with the Ruger Redhawk and S&W Model 29 revolvers. Our impression is that this revolver probably offers a smoother double action pull than the Ruger and is more rugged than the S&W. This revolver is great for hunting using .44 Magnum cartridges and with .44 Special for casual days at the range. As great a shooter as this gun promises to be, it is likely to become a favorite addition to a Colt collection. With its high condition, truly mirror-bright finish and with a letter confirming it is in its factory configuration, Colt collectors will have a hard time convincing themselves to put the first burn-ring on the cylinder. Please see our photos and good luck!
